About

Green Seam Designs LLC is a design and build company specializing in high-end custom wood, metal, and upholstered furniture. Our goal is to build a top-quality sustainable product that will last for generations. We work with clients in both residential and commercial design. The scope of our projects range from the single perfectly placed custom piece to an entire home of curated furniture.

To create our custom furniture, Green Seam Designs sources many premium, sustainable, natural, and non-VOC products. We take on select reupholstery and furniture reconditioning jobs with an emphasis on reducing landfill waste through reuse. Green Seam Designs makes sure that scrap or remnant material from a current project is recycled for future projects or repurposed and used elsewhere. All our natural product scraps and saw dust are composted with a local company.

Our focus is on the perfection of beautiful, custom furniture while being mindful about what we add to our natural environment.

Residential Projects

After working on projects across the mountain west for over a decade we have built a reputation on our ability to create beautiful furnishings in high-end and complex design environments. We start work in the early schematic design phases and are there until the last chair is set in place.

From small homes just looking for a refresh to large scale new builds we are here to help with any scope of custom furnishing needs. We will build a single built-in banquette or work with the full design team to create furniture in every room of the home. Our upholstery, woodwork, and metalwork capabilities include, but are not limited to, dining chairs, dining tables, barstools, banquettes, bunk beds, sofas, sectionals, ottomans, upholstered paneling, handrails & wrapping, nightstands, desks, throw pillows, and all types of cushions.

The Green Seam Designs’ team of artisans and design professionals will help you take your ideas from drawings to scale. We understand the need to get your project completed in a timely manner, so we have created a process which moves the project efficiently through design, production, and installation.

Commercial Projects

Our work has spanned a broad range of commercial projects over the years. We start work in the early schematic design phases and are there until the last chair is set in place.

Restaurant interiors have always been a staple in our repertoire. We truly enjoy working with restaurant owners and the design team to bring their vision to life. In addition to the restaurants, we have built interior and exterior furnishings for many tech companies, retail shops, hotels, breweries/bars, jewelry stores, professional offices, and countless other collaborations.

Our meticulous attention to detail creates commercial spaces that are leveled up from your competition’s generic mass-produced finishes. We understand the need to get your business up and running so we have created a process which moves the project efficiently though design, production, and installation.

Sustainably-sourced Materials

FSC Certified Wood - The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certifies forests to ensure their environments are responsibly managed and meet the highest environmental and social standards. FSC has established a certification system that requires the support of several third-party actors to operate it on the ground, maintain independence and integrity, and ultimately ensure sustainable management of the world’s forests.

RDS Certified Down - The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) aims to ensure that down and feathers come from animals that have not been subjected to an unnecessary harm. It is our hope that the standard can be used to reward and influence the down and feather industry to incentivize practices that respect the humane treatment of ducks and geese. We believe that education – through the RDS – is a meaningful way to drive demand for strong animal welfare practices. The standard also provides companies and consumers with a tool to know what is in their products, and to make accurate claims.

Talalay Latex Foam - Talalay 100% Natural and FSC®. Recognized as the greenest sleeping material in the bedding industry, our Natural Talalay latex is made from 100% natural rubber. Natural rubber latex is biodegradable and considered very eco-friendly. Natural rubber latex products are considered biodegradable because the liquid latex used to manufacture the products is naturally extracted from the Hevea Brasiliensis, or “The Rubber Tree”. The latex foam scraps are composted and turned back into dirt as opposed to the polyurethane foams that have to be sent to the landfill.

Jute Webbing & Burlap - Made from natural closely woven jute plant fibers. In furniture burlap is used as a tightly stretched backing to hold shape for upholstery. Jute plants grow to be over 10 feet high, and the fibers derived from these plants are harvested in a single long string. Therefore, jute fibers are among the longest natural textile fibers in the world. It is strong and durable and has been used in textiles for over 5000 years. This product can be composted if scrap is accumulated.

Veg Tanned Leather - Vegetable-tanned leather is a slower, eco-conscious process whereby hides are soaked in vegetable tannins that produce a beautiful aroma and patina.

Rubio Monocoat Wood Finish - A plant based, hardwax oil wood finish. Used to color and seal exposed wood on all of our furniture. Rubio Monocoat oil is 0% VOC* and does not contain any water or solvents. It is based on natural ingredients. This means that the product is very safe to use, but equally safe for your environment. The molecular bonding technology provides durable, long lasting protection. Surfaces treated with Rubio Monocoat oil are easy to maintain, and isolated scratches or damaged areas are very easy to repair.

Cotton Batting - Upholstery cotton batting at 50/50 staple is super soft and fluffy. It is used in upholstery to provide a great feel for furniture, seats, and cushions. Cotton batting provides superior support to polyester batting. This textile is chemically organic, which means that it does not contain any synthetic compounds. Cotton textile is derived from the fibers surrounding the seeds of cotton plants, which emerge in a round, fluffy formation once the seeds are mature. This product can be composted if scrap is accumulated.

Jute Twine - Made from natural, non-stretch, closely woven jute plant fibers. Twine is used in furniture for tying all types of upholstery springs. This keeps the springs in place and helps shape the furniture.
